You often find yourself waiting for an event you absolutely know you will love. Whether it is going to your favorite artist’s concert, meeting your loved one, or traveling to a new country. As fun as such events can be, you can still enjoy yourself in anticipation, even if they are years ahead. Here are three tips to help you wait for something exciting!

Tip 1: Build the moments in your mind

If you are looking forward to something, I don’t see any reason to avoid thinking about it. I found it very interesting how a simple search in Google tells you to keep busy until the event comes so that the time passes quickly. That doesn’t make much sense to me.

Okay, you can, and maybe you should be busy at times or whenever you want. But don’t be busy only to forget about an exciting event in the future, so that it comes faster. The event will happen in its time, and the longer you wait, the more you can benefit from it.

Think about it. You can build the event in your mind and “live” it before it even happens, making various fun scenarios in your mind. You don’t need to go crazy here and build unrealistic expectations. Only the idea and making up some simple moments can make all the difference in your mood. And no matter how you are feeling, thinking about the event can make you even happier!

Trip 2: Prepare for the event

No matter the nature of the event you are waiting for, there is always room to prepare for it. Again, don’t over-plan, but you can make some simple preparations to get ready physically, emotionally, mentally, or in any way you see fit.

For example, if there is a future trip you are excited about, there are so many things you can arrange beforehand. Booking tickets, finding accommodation, checking out things to do, and much more.

Personally, I love reading articles and watching YouTube videos months before I travel! It makes waiting for the trip so much more fun because, in a way, you take some of the joy you will have when traveling in the future and bring it to the present. Let alone that preparing for the event makes it more likely to be super fun!

Trip 3: Use the waiting time for your growth

As with everything in life, you can use the waiting time for your personal growth. For example, patience is a virtue but also a skill. The more you practice it, the better you become at it. And this is only a small part of how you can use waiting for your growth.

If you find yourself waiting for something, it means you have some time between now and then. And the more you have, the more you can do. Pick up a hobby, start journaling, draw a painting, meditate, or polish a skill.

Remember, you don’t start a new activity to help you forget about the event. After all, we are talking about something exciting, so you have every reason to think about it. Activity is just a means for you to use this waiting period for your growth. In other words, make this waiting time count and focus on things that matter the most to you!
