If you could choose one superpower, what would that be? The more you think about it, the more ideas come to mind. However, what if someone told you that you own a superpower that can change your life?

The innate access to joy

As fairytale-wise as it may seem at first, you can determine your interiority. In other words, you can have absolute control of whether you are happy or angry or any inner state you choose. That’s an innate superpower within every human.

Think about it. All those emotions, thoughts, and experiences happen within you. You may have used the outside as triggers, but that’s only the surface. The real thing happened within you.

If something happens within you, by definition, you can have absolute control over it. You can’t decide how people will behave, but you can have 100% mastery of your interiority. The only thing that remains is that you unlock that superpower within you!

How to unlock this superpower

There is not only one way you can find your innate access to joy. The methods may differ, but the fundamental is that you take control. This means your mind is not the boss anymore, and you become more conscious.

So, how to achieve that? To start with, this is not a one-day solution. Depending on several factors, such as your current circumstances, it can take months or years to unlock that superpower. In other words, practice makes perfect.

But what would that practice be? In short, anything that makes you more conscious. For some people, it could be praying or meditating; for others, it might be sports or painting. Think of and do anything that makes you focus and be conscious of everything around and within you.

The role of external activities

When it comes to happiness, the elephant in the room is no other than external activities. Most people have the impression that if you fix your surroundings with external activities, you will be happy. That is not necessarily true.

Your surrounding can determine the level of comfort in your life. Still, after securing physical and social survival, surroundings are independent of joy. In other words, wealth, power, and social status are only relevant to a certain degree, usually until the point survival is ensured.

Have you noticed that people like to complicate their survival process? One house, two cars, or 3 billion dollars may not be enough for them, so they want more. Then, they must pay the loans, utilities, or both just to survive!

Maybe there is no need to complicate life all that much. We may be better off investing our time and effort into our interiority and the people around us. And the sweet thing is that once you have taken control of your interiority, helping others comes naturally.

Takeaway

  • If something happens within you, by definition, you can have absolute control over it.
  • Think of and do anything that makes you focus and be conscious of everything around and within you.
  • It makes sense to invest your time and effort into your interiority and the people around you.
